“Mom, this is the best macaroni and cheese I haveever tasted”, whispered my 4-year-old in a very serious, appreciative voice after finishing everything on his plate.

My three-year-old finished everything on her plate too! And you know what? They both had seconds AND thirds!!! (yes, having thirds deservesthree exclamation points.)

This VELVEETA Mac and Cheese recipe is so easy and comes together really fast. I highly recommend serving it with bright colored sides, like broccoli and strawberries. It would also be delicious mixed with a cup of green peas and served with chicken and a salad. Or if you simply want macaroni and cheese, a dash of dried parsley would add just a little color to make it more beautiful.

  • a small sprinkle of kosher salt
  • optional: grated Parmesan cheese as a garnish

Instructions:

You can also toss in some canned black beans or a small can ofdrained salmon or tuna at the end to add some protein/fiber 🙂 We’ve tried both and they are delicious.

  2. Love this recipe, literally eating it right now as I’m writing this. I will probably never buy boxed mac and cheese again because this is just as easy but tastes SO much better! However, the only critique I have is that the pepper flavor is a little overpowering. I’m personally not a fan of pepper so I put half the amount that the recipe calls for and it’s still too much for me… this is totally a personal thing, but if you’re like me and don’t love pepper, keep this in mind!

    1. Hi Anna, thank you for your feedback! Great to hear you enjoyed the mac and cheese, but I’m sorry the pepper was too much for you… I updated the recipe to remind other readers know they can add less or more pepper depending on their tastes 🙂

  3. Can I use evaporated milk?

    Reply

    1. Hi Robert, I personally haven’t tried using evaporated milk in this recipe, but it looks like it might be a great substitution! This website shows the ratios you might want to use: https://culinarylore.com/substitutions:how-to-substitute-evaporated-milk-for-regular/ So for 1/3 C. whole milk, you would use 1/6 C. water and 1/6 C. evaporated milk. But it might even be fine just using straight up evaporated milk in this mac and cheese… maybe it’ll be extra creamy? If you try it, please let us know how it goes!

  4. Love it!! Tried a couple velveeta Mac and cheese recipes & this has the best proportions. Needs a little extra milk when reheating leftovers, but that’s not unusual. Used at least a 1/2 tsp of pepper & a good tsp+ of hot sauce. Perfect heat.

    1. Oh, I love the hot sauce idea! Glad you enjoyed the mac and cheese!

  5. Recipe on Velveeta box says 12 oz. of Velveeta, not 8 oz.

    1. Laurie, it looks like you’re right about the box recipe saying 12 oz of the Velveeta. It probably would be extra creamy and cheesy that way. I only used 8 oz and still loved how it turned out, but please let us know how you like it with the extra cheese if you use the 12 oz 🙂

  6. I am making this tonight! Adding both ground burger and sausage for thickness and protein. I like how simple this is! Thank you for this recipe

    1. Yum! Ground burger and sausage sound like great additions! Haven’t had it in a while, but makes me think of Hamburger Helper. I used to love that stuff!

      1. Thank you. Yes but most definitely not hamburger helper lol. You can change it up by adding spicy sausage or having different spices. I also added cheddar and it boosted the flavor. Very yummy anyway you make it!
